PADI TEC40
The PADI Tec 40 course is where you transition from recreational diving to technical diving. It’s a natural progression from Tec Basics, or it can be your first tec diver course. It is the bridge between no stop diving and technical decompression diving. You will gain experience and begin building the knowledge and skills you need to continue your tec diver training. You will qualify to make limited decompression dives to 40 metres/130 feet and use up to 50 percent oxygen as a decompression gas.
Prerequisites
To enroll in the Tec 40 course, you must be:
- Advanced Open Water Diver Certified
- Enriched Air Diver Certified with at least 10 dives using enriched air deeper than 18 metres/60 feet
- Deep Diver Certified or proof of at least 10 dives to 30 metres/100 feet
- At least 18 years old and have a minimum of 30 logged dives
Once you enroll in the class you also need to have a Diver Medical Form signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
Requirements
The Tec 40 course consists of eLearning knowledge development, knowledge review with your PADI Instructor, and four training dives. You’ll learn about:
- Technical diving’s risks and responsibilities
- Technical diving equipment, proper rigging and set up
- Gas planning, oxygen limits and decompression planning
- Team diving techniques and emergency procedures, such as dealing with free flows, manifold leaks and out of gas situations
The Scuba Gear You Use:
Students MUST have their own Scuba Kit.(BCD, Regulator, Dive Computer).
You’ll start with your basic scuba diving equipment and add technical equipment, which essentially means you’ll begin to double up on gear. You may dive with backmounted or sidemounted cylinders.
Tuition for PADI Tec40 certification is : $525

- 1 Day of Diving at Fantasy Lake (you are responsible for $25 park entry fee)
- 1 Two Tank Dive Charter with your Instructor (you are responsible for DIve Charter Fee).
- Issuing of your PADI Tec40 eCard

- Sunday May 31st at Fantasty Lake
- Saturday June 6th on the HEBE Dive Carter
